Welcome Back - 2012

Well the school year is now underway for 2012...it is going to be an exciting year I am sure!  You may have noticed the change in the title of the blog....we have had a bit of a restructure at the school so there is no longer a Junior School ...we are now the Primary School.  This week I have only had the Year Twos and Threes.  Next week the Year Ones get to come to the art room for the first time and I get to say a big "Welcome back" to the Year Fours, Fives and Sixes.

Year One - Rockets

The Year One students had fun using the collage materials to create rockets to display in the hall for Presentation Night.  I think they all loved using the sequins and the glitter paper.

Year Two - Starry Nights

The Year Two students created these art works in response to Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night".  The addition of glitter made them really special and they looked fantastic on the wall at Presentation Night

Year Four - Falling Into Space

I can't believe how quickly the year is going.  We have been busy in the Art Room preparing for the Presentation Nights next week - this includes preparing art works to decorate the walls.  The theme of the evenings is "Out of This World" so that has meant lots of Space themed activities.
The Year Four students have worked hard to create these wonderful paintings of themselves "Falling into Space".

(A big thank you to Mrs M who helped to get these finished off so that we could make the deadline and also to Mary Making for the inspiration and idea )

Year Five - Abstract Cityscapes

The Year Five students created these pictures in response to Paul Klee's "Castle and Sun".

Year Three - Recycled Insects/Flowers

Inspired by the lovely daisies and dragonflies I saw on "For the Love of Art" I decided to use up some of the old paintings that had no names on them and some magazine pages.  The students had to plan out what they were going to make and then work out how many they needed of each shape.  I decided to leave them mounted on large pieces of black paper rather than cutting around them.

Year Two - Flower Power

The Year Two students created these lovely flower pictures using soft pastels and ink.  I love the contrast of the two different media.  I think the students enjoyed using the soft pastels - particularly seeing how they could blend the colours together.
