Year Three - Recycled Insects/Flowers

Inspired by the lovely daisies and dragonflies I saw on "For the Love of Art" I decided to use up some of the old paintings that had no names on them and some magazine pages.  The students had to plan out what they were going to make and then work out how many they needed of each shape.  I decided to leave them mounted on large pieces of black paper rather than cutting around them.

Year Three - Collage flowers

The Year Three students made these collage flowers using a variety of materials.  We looked at a variety of flowers and noted the different shapes of the petals and the way the petals were 'layered' in some flowers. It is nice to see that they have all interpreted the activity in their own way.

Thankyou to Art Lessons for Kids for the great idea.

Wire Sculpture - Insects

The Year Three students have been very busy creating insects out of beads and wire.  For most of them this has been a new experience as it is the first time they have worked with wire.  As a a part of our learning we have had to discuss safety and the importance of wearing safety glasses to protect our eyes.  Here is some of their work:

Year Three - Interesting Insects

The Year Three students have created pictures of insects crawling over a background of leaves.  The insects have been painted with edicol dye and when dry were cut out and mounted on a piece of egg carton to make them stand out of the background.

Year Three - Ugly Bugs

The Year Three students had fun making these Ugly Bugs with collage materials.  First we started with a blot painting in three colours before adding legs, wings, eyes and other body parts.  The students really enjoyed to opportunity to be creative and use their imagination.

Year Three - Eric Carle inspired animals

The Year Threes worked hard to make these lovely pictures of animals inspired by the work of author and illustrator Eric Carle.  They had to be very careful when they were painting the tissue paper as it was very delicate.

Year Three - Collagraph Prints

Here are just a few samples from the collagraph prints that the Year Three students created during Term 1.  They did a really good job of creating the blocks and really enjoyed printing them.  There are a couple of photo's of the blocks too which are artworks in their own right I think.

Surfs Up - Year Three and Four

At the beginning of the year the Year Three and Four classes painted surfing and body-boarding pictures.  They really enjoyed mixing the paints.
