Year One and Year Two - Cats

This term the Year One and Two students have been working on cat paintings for the Perth Royal Show.  These paintings will hopefully be exhibited in the Cat Pavilion during the show (depending on number of entries they receive).  I think the students have done a really nice job of them and I just love how each one is different and has such personality.

Year One - Finished Soft Toy Cats! (Inspired by Laurel Burch)

The Year One students were very excited this week to take their finished soft toy cats home.  They did a great job of sewing them - hardly any needed extra sewing to patch up 'missed' spots.  The cats all looked wonderful and had such individual personalities.

Year One - Laurel Burch Inspired Cats (Part two)

The Year One's have had fun using edicol dye and fabric crayons to make a fabric version of a Laurel Burch cat.  I don't usually like to use templates but provided the outline of the cat to the students so that they would not be too small....even after using a template it is lovely to see the variety of different cats created.  We will be making these cats into our very own soft toys - today we started sewing...when they are completed I will post some photo's of the finished products.

Year One - Laurel Burch Inspired Cats

The Year One students enjoyed looking at the work of artist Laurel Burch.  We looked at how her art work has been turned into many things including plates, buttons and fabric.  The Year One students then created their own art works inspired by the bright colours and the patterns that she uses in her work.

Year Three - Collagraph Prints

Here are just a few samples from the collagraph prints that the Year Three students created during Term 1.  They did a really good job of creating the blocks and really enjoyed printing them.  There are a couple of photo's of the blocks too which are artworks in their own right I think.
