Year Five - Abstract Cityscapes

The Year Five students created these pictures in response to Paul Klee's "Castle and Sun".

Year Five - Rainforests

The Year Five students spent a lot of time working on these rainforest pictures.  They had to think carefully about the different layers of plants in the rainforest and what they look like as they drew them.  They then had to choose some rainforest creatures to add to the scene.  We talked about perspective and how things that are closer to us seem bigger.  Some of the butterflies and moths look like they have landed on the page.

Year Five - Funny Fish

Last term the Year Five students made these "Funny Fish" out of clay.  When we came back to school this term they were ready to paint.  The students enjoyed using the clay and did a great job of painting them carefully.  After the fish were painted they were sprayed with clear varnish.

Year Five - Jellyfish

The Year Five students had fun with the edicol dye and pastels to create these abstract jellyfish paintings.

This activity was once again inspired the work I saw on Deep Space Sparkle

Year Five - Under the Sea Prints

The Year Five students drew some pictures of different sea creatures.  They then chose their favourite image that they had drawn and transferred this to a foam printing block.  The students found drawing on the foam a new experience and for some it proved quite tricky but they all persevered and came up with some wonderful results.

The Year 5's did Egyptian style portraits at the end of last term.  They have been done with oil pastels and edicol dye wash.

Year Five - Op-Art

 

 

The Year Fives worked very carefully to colour these pages to create some Op-Art inspired by the artist Bridget Riley.
