Inspired by the lovely daisies and dragonflies I saw on "For the Love of Art" I decided to use up some of the old paintings that had no names on them and some magazine pages. The students had to plan out what they were going to make and then work out how many they needed of each shape. I decided to leave them mounted on large pieces of black paper rather than cutting around them.
An art blog to showcase some of the fantastic work created by students from Year 1 to Year 6 at Maranatha Christian College

Year Two - Flower Power
The Year Two students created these lovely flower pictures using soft pastels and ink. I love the contrast of the two different media. I think the students enjoyed using the soft pastels - particularly seeing how they could blend the colours together.

Year Three - Collage flowers
The Year Three students made these collage flowers using a variety of materials. We looked at a variety of flowers and noted the different shapes of the petals and the way the petals were 'layered' in some flowers. It is nice to see that they have all interpreted the activity in their own way.

Year Two - Poppies
The Year Two students have painted some beautiful poppies to brighten up the Art Room. These have been inspired by the work of artist Georgia O'Keefe.
